Family, Friends and Fireworks on the Fourth

We had a great 4th of July this year! First, I got to meet my new nephew. He was only a couple of weeks old, and we got a surprise fun visit with him.

One evening we went over to the "boys'" house to watch them light off fireworks. Brandon took a few for the girls, but since they aren't into it like the boys, we had more fun with them.
Maisie got close enough to help light one.

Even Sadie had courage!

Just like Analise was, Sadie doesn't like the loud booms.

On July 4 morning, I frosted a coffeecake with red, white and blue frosting. I pulled this coffeecake from the freezer, and it's a coffeecake we always have at Christmas. It was good but felt a little strange eating it in July.

After a morning at a state park where Caramel and the girls swam, we had tacos along with red/white/ blue jello. I love how it doesn't take much to impress the girls.

We spent the evening with friends. We had a cookout, and the kids played in the back yard. It was a kid's dream land - slip n slides, small pools, bounce house, play ground, trampoline, a slip n slide that had a slide. They were so entertained (all 12 of them) the adults actually got to visit!
We left there a little early to go see family again. We wanted to spend time with S and baby D again.
We couldn't stay there late, though, because Brandon was taking a business trip early the next morning.
I told Brandon that it was the best 4th we'd had in a long time.
