Dog Days of Summer

A few weeks ago we decided it was time for Caramel to get used to being in water. Since she has webbed feet, we wanted her to learn to love water.
Brandon's boss owns some land by a river, so we went out there to play. It turned out being one of my favorite summer days.
Caramel wasn't sure at first. Brandon really had to coax her across a stream. Not much later though, she was having so much fun. If a dog could smile, she would have been grinning ear to ear. And the girls had lots of fun, too.

  Look at that stride.

She ran through the water so fast; it was hilarious!

Needless to say, we went home and took showers. All three girls and one dog were super sandy!

A week later we wanted Caramel to learn to swim. We knew she enjoyed water, so this was the next step. We went to a local recreation park and thankfully had the beach to ourselves.
Again, she was a bit hesitant at first.

Analise tried coaxing her out with a stick.
And it worked! Look at her doggy paddle!

What really motivated Caramel? This toad she found.
Brandon would toss the toad into the water, and Caramel didn't think twice about fetching it. Brandon was pleased that her desire to hunt trumped everything else.
And no fear - the toad was fine when we were all finished.

 What a happy dog.
