A couple of weeks into summer vacation, we headed to Indiana for our traditional week of good times in Fort Fun. This trip was a little different due to a couple of reasons. One, we had to leave a couple of days later because we had a pastoral candidate come to our church, and I needed to be there. Two, Brandon drove us to IN and then flew out the next morning for a "work" trip to northern Minnesota for a walleye fishing trip. We missed having him around, but we had fun and I was really glad he could go on this trip.
Here are the highlights:
Nothing quite coloring Easter eggs in June.
Grandmom and Pops gave the girls a magnetic white board. Sadie hung it up on the fridge and displayed her sweet message.
Bubble bath fun
Tuesday was a special day. Mom went off to her last day of teaching - ever. She knew she was going to lunch with fellow teachers, but she didn't know that the rest of us were joining her. It was a sweet time seeing her celebrate her retirement with her peers, and I am glad we could be there. We enjoyed the patio outside at Panera. Maisie was my one daughter that went around and visited with the other teachers with Grandmom.
Tuesday afternoon Grandmom surprised the girls with pedicures.
Tuesday night Analise and I went to Pop's volleyball practice. I enjoyed being in a gym again, watching my dad coach. Analise and I then played "pepper" together; that was so fun and meaningful to me.
Wednesday was zoo day. We've been going each summer for years, and the girls still look forward to it. I was again so excited to see a baby orangutan. I can't begin to describe the cuteness. :)
Wednesday night we went to the Tincaps baseball game. Analise was the most excited, but we all had fun. The weather was beautiful, so it was a great night to sit in center field. Pops taught Analise how to keep official score of the baseball game; it was so sweet to watch them enjoy it together.
A storm rolled through north of town, but the clouds were beautiful.
We were pleasantly surprised when we learned there were fireworks at the end of the game.
Above - Analise loving the from room at Sweetwater.
Below - it's not an official zoo visit without a train ride.
We all loved seeing "The Little Mermaid" at Wagon Wheel Theatre.
Some time at our favorite play ground.
It's been a few years since all three girls climbed into one pair of men's shorts. They still fit!
Thanks, mom and dad, for another great week.We really did enjoy it, even if it took six months to get on the blog. :)
